Telephones use only two wires to connect to the phone extensions on the PABX. On the other hand, the console is used to program the PABX so that telephones within can be used to call people in different offices as well as make calls to the outside of the organization. Unlike other telephones, the telephone console uses four copper wires where two of the wires are used to power it.
Some people might also choose to use cat 6 copper wire that has 8 strands of copper wire. 


The process of wiring your office


First, you'll have to run the trunking all over your office to the points that you would like to have the telephones located. After that, you'll have to put in the 4-core copper wire used to connect the phones from the PABX extensions up to the where the telephones will be located. This is very important since it avoids a scenario whereby you have wires all over your office floor which may hinder your movement around the office. 


After you're done with the wiring you'll have now started to terminate both ends. Since the telephone uses the 4-core copper wire that is a combination of red, yellow, black, and white, and blue you’ll have to terminate both ends. You’ll have to use the same color-coding on both sides so that you ensure the telephones to communicate. You’ll clip the RJ-11 to ensure copper wire strands have been fitted into it using a clipping tool.

On the other end since you’ll be using a module use the pushdown to place the wires to their respective position matching the color codes on the module. You’ll then use a LAN test to ensure that all the wires are connected properly. 


You'll then mount the cabinet to the wall using some strong roll bolts after drilling to the wall and filling the walls with some wall plugs. After this, you'll mount the punch panel on which the wires from the other end will terminate. It's usually named from 1 up to 24. You'll then connect some RJ-11 patch codes that you've created to the PABX extension whereby ext-1 is connected to the console so that you can use it to program the PABX. 


You’ll then make other RJ-11 patch codes that will connect the telephones to the termination points on the module. These are usually on the wires whereby they are fixed using faceplates. The points are usually labeled. You can then fix your phones to the right place on different locations of the office ready to be used.
